Rabat – Agri Carbon Days, an international symposium on sustainable agribusiness, provided a platform for sharing expertise and experiences in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions in the agricultural industry during its two-day run on May 24 and 25 in Rabat.
Organized jointly by Morocco’s Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) through its AgriTech Center of Excellence and the International Labor Organization (ILO) through the ProAgro Morocco project, the gathering attracted a distinguished panel of experts and key stakeholders from across the globe.
With over two hundred participants in attendance, including thirty-two renowned international speakers, the event focused on the reduction of carbon emissions in the agro-industrial sector and carbon sequestration through agriculture.
The symposium covered a wide range of critical subjects, encompassing greenhouse gas emission reduction policies, decarbonization of the agro-industry, the carbon economy, and pivotal scientific and technological breakthroughs that will shape its future.
Of particular focus were the challenges and opportunities inherent in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture, along with essential policies and strategies to support the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, contributing to the ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality.
Researchers also unveiled their latest advancements in emerging technologies aimed at promoting low-carbon food production and facilitating carbon sequestration in agricultural soils.

The event also served as a platform for five innovative startups participating to showcase novel solutions for reducing the sector’s carbon footprint in the Farming Innovation Program – Carbon Farming Edition.
Expressing his satisfaction with the event, Director of the AgriTech Center of Excellence Faissal Sehbaoui saod the organizers were proud of the enthusiasm surrounding this second edition of the Agri Carbon Days.
“An enthusiasm among national actors in agriculture and AgriBusiness, but above all, there is enthusiasm and keen interest among a wide community of renowned scientists and experts who have been attracted by this exceptional Moroccan mobilization for Agro-industry decarbonization and carbon farming,” he added.
Sehbaoui further emphasized the role of the AgriTech Center of Excellence at UM6P as a catalyst and supporter of efforts towards a decarbonized future for Morocco’s agro-industry.
The event provided a platform for exchange and dialogue, facilitating participants in sharing their expertise, experiences, and cutting-edge research on decarbonizing the agro-industry and promoting carbon sequestration through agriculture.
