“Those who are against the unity that we see in our nation, that today they want to bring us old stories, I want to promise Kenya that we will not allow our country to be hostage to threats and blackmail by a few people who are looking for their personal interest we are going to serve all Kenyans equally irrespective of how they voted because we want to move our country to the next level,” a categorical William Ruto said.

Cartels in agriculture sector

The president claimed that there are people against the development of the agriculture sector from the grassroots level and are funding the Opposition to curtail government progress and agenda to the people. “We must ensure that farmers’ businesses are thriving because they are the surest solutions for our food security intervention. These cartels and corrupt people in the coffee, tea and milk industries are the ones financing the protests because of our plan to get rid of cartels,” the president disclosed.

He asked the profiteers of the protest to move on swiftly but allow farmers to reap from their sweat instead of blocking the market for their products. “Let them protest, however, they want but they must leave farmers alone. They can finance whatever they want to finance but our farmers can never be the slaves of brokers and cartels who have taken hostage our market,” he said. Ruto said it was unfair for the opposition to slow the country down instead of doing due diligence in their quest for accountability.
